Welcome Back to Forkner! What a great year we have to look forward to.
First let me say that we will be updating this website during the first week of school, so some of the information is outdated. Next let me say THANK YOU to all the returning committee chairs! We did loose a few chairs this year, so if you want to become more involved, please contact any board member and we'll find you something you would love to do!
Next let me welcome Howard Larimer and Gay Ockey to our school. I have met with them over the last two or three weeks and I can tell you they are going to be GREAT to work with! If you missed the meet and greet's that PTA and Mr. Larimer set up, there is still one more opportunity for you to get to know these two awsome administrators. Wednesday, August 23rd at 7:00 Mr. Larimer and Ms. Ockey will be in the Cafeteria to meet with the Forkner parents and introduce themselves.
This year, PTA is changing it's focus! Last year we accomplished a monumental goal of purchasing new computers for our school! The PTA raised and spent over $100,000 in two years! WOW! This year, we want to give parents a break from fundraising. We considered eliminating some fundraisers, but everyone had a different idea on which one to eliminate. Some parents like cookie dough and others like gift wrap. So we decided to keep the fundraisers, but to let you know the pressure is off. If you want the product, buy it! But if you don't, please don't feel obligated to purchase, just so your kid can have a computer in their classroom. Because as of last year, all the computers were purchased!
This year's first fundraiser is Carnival. A huge THANK YOU to Carolyn Larsen for once again chairing this committee. We will send you more inforamtion regarding Carnival as it draws near, but for now, mark you calendars for Friday, October 13th!
Forkner T-shirts are coming! We have a few designs in mind and will be presenting these designs to the teachers! The teachers will show the kids the designs and the kids will vote on which design they like the best! The top rated design will be put on everyone's T-shirt! Order forms went out, but we don't expect to actually place an order for approximately 3 weeks.
Lastly, we want you to attend our PTA meetings! We will be hosting meetings for the general membership on the third Wednesday of each month at 11:00 AND 6:00! So pick a time, and join us! Our first meeting will be on September 20th! Any item you would like to discuss at the general PTA meeting should be brought to the executive board meeting prior to the general meeting. If you have a topic, please present it to any board member before September 12th for consideration at our executive meeting.
Remember to turn in your PTA membership, directory forms, and to volunteer to help in the classroom!
